Mines Nancy offers international students to take part in an intensive training program in French as a Foreign Language during the summer period (July and August). The main objective of this Summer School is to prepare students, linguistically and culturally, to easily integrate into degree studies in the fields of science and engineering in France.
The Summer School is open both to international students who would like to continue their degree studies in Mines Nancy and to students seeking to improve their level of French while living an immersive experience in France.
The Summer School’s objectives:
- Facilitate the linguistic and cultural adaptation of students
- Help students better integrate into an engineering school in France
- Promote students’ autonomy and responsibility by allowing them to be main actors during their studies
- Provide students with all the necessary resources (teaching staff, study material and digital platform) required for efficient language learning in an immersive environment.
Dates and program:
The Summer School takes place during the months of July and August (from July 15 to August 23, 2024). Students have the option to attend the complete 6-week training or part of it depending on their goals.
Please be informed that at least B2 level of French is required for starting your degree studies at Mines Nancy efficiently.
The Summer School courses are scheduled on mornings and/or afternoons (3.5 days a week for a total of approximately 18 hours a week).
The Summer School program is a combination of classroom studies – focusing on communication skills – and cultural activities. The final program will be adapted according to the students’ profiles (level of French, native language, fields of study, interests etc.).
Registration procedure and fees:
If at the moment of your application to the Summer School, you are already admitted to one of Mines Nancy degree programs, you do not have to undergo any additional registration procedures but you should inform Mines Nancy International Office about your willingness to participate in the Summer School via email: mines-nancy-dai@univ-lorraine.fr
If you are not admitted to Mines Nancy and you would like to participate in the Summer School, please follow the application steps below:
- Contact Mines Nancy International Office via email mines-nancy-dai@univ-lorraine.fr along with a copy of your passport;
- The International Office will contact you to inform about further application procedures to be done (fee payment, accommodation options, administrative formalities etc.);
- After all the necessary application procedures are done, you will receive an Admission Letter which is necessary for the visa application.
FEES
The fee includes tuition fee and a part of cultural visits expenses. The fee does not include travel, accommodation, meals and other living expenses.
If you are a student from a partner university of Mines Nancy and/or have been admitted to the school for the upcoming academic year: the total cost is 600€ (or 100€ per week)
If you are a student admitted to another French or foreign university, the total cost is 750€ (or 125€ per week).
Payments are made by bank transfer.
