Academia Stands for Green Deal 2023: Driving Green & Digital Transitions

10-11 May, Mines Nancy hosted the second edition of its international conference “Academia Stands for Green Deal”. The event brought together 70 participants from academia and business from 15 countries, to discuss and collaborate on shaping the Green and Digital transitions.

Universities such as the University of Alberta, University of Southern Denmark, Tallinn University of Technology, Ca’Foscari University of Venice, Jozef Stefan Institute, University of Belgrade, Galatasaray University, Aalto University, KTH Royal Institute of Technology, Leoben University, and others contributed diverse scientific perspectives and expertise.

Industry partners including Atlantic Copper, Engie, McKinsey & Company, EIT Raw Materials, BILITI Electric, WindAid Institute, World Materials Forum and others shared valuable insights, emphasizing the significance of academia-industry collaboration in driving the twin transitions.

The conference commenced with an impactful keynote speech by Victoire de Margerie, Founder & Vice Chairman of the World Materials Forum, setting the stage for in-depth discussions on significant topics including Raw Materials for Green and Digital Transitions, Green Industry, Green IT, and Green Skills for future generations.

During the event, partner universities were invited to connect with Mines Nancy students, promoting exchange studies, double-degree programs, and internships at the dedicated Student Fair. Similarly, participating companies had the opportunity to showcase their offerings, explore potential synergies with research partners, and engage with the students at the dedicated Business Corner.

 

Additionally, the conference featured practical workshops aimed at fostering collaboration on prospective joint projects, enhancing the practical outcomes of the event. In conclusion, the Best Poster competition was organized, where early career researchers presented their work and a distinguished jury selected three winners for recognition and awards. Participants provided positive feedback, highlighting the importance of the topics and valuable networking opportunities.
